It finally happened! I couldn’t wait any longer, and the studio got a rather special RGB upgrade. This awesome-looking bar is called the Govee Glide Wall Light, and it has a lot of cool features.
You can set this to just one colour, or you can choose which colour is shown along different sections of the bar. It also has a whole bunch of presets to chose from, some of them are calm and easy on the eyes…others are just totally bonkers!
If you want to see what it looks like in action though, just take a look at my video below. Also, if you enjoy the video, please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel – it’s free 🙂
So to start with, the Glide wall light is incredible value for money. The price changes now again, and Govee have offers on all the time – so to check the current price, have a quick look here
At the time of writing this article, you can’t buy this particular Govee product in the UK. However, you can buy it via Amazon USA and have it shipped to the UK. Just don’t forget to order a 2 pin plug adaptor! If you are in the USA though, then you shouldn’t have any trouble getting your hands on this.
So this entire light is made up of 6 long plastic pieces, 1 corner piece, and the power connector. All of these sections click together, very easy and fast to do. It’s also worth noting that yes, you can take this apart again without damaging it. Although, I wouldn’t recommend doing this repeatedly…it would eventually break.
When all of the pieces are clicked together (in whatever order you choose), you should turn it on to check that all of the sections are working. If they are, I would then get this light bar set up in the Govee app. This will allow you to use all of it’s functions via the app. It only takes a couple of seconds – don’t skip this part!
Once I had turned it on and set it up in the app, I held it against the wall to see what it would look like. On the back of each plastic section, there are 2 sticky pads. They are the command hook type, so shouldn’t damage the walls which is great!
You’ll see some of the effects from this awesome light bar in the video above, but the cool thing is you can create your own presets. I have a few solid colours saved so that I can switch to them fast, but the app gives you complete control over everything including colours, effects, brightness, and you can also control the light using Alexa or Google Assistant. So in the studio where I set this up, all of the lights can be turned on or off simply by asking Google which is great!
The Govee Glide Wall light is absolutely fantastic value for money compared with similar products on the market from companies like Philips (Hue) and also LIFX. Don’t get me wrong, Philips and LIFX have some amazing products, but when it comes to pricing and value for money, Govee have totally nailed it!
The Glide lights keep selling out, so if you want one, my advice is go for it! You’ll be pleased you did 🙂
